Jaipur: Rajasthan shuttlers Garvit Barwar, Aaradhya Jodha, and Deshna Jain tasted twin success at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (U-15 & U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament being played at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.The pair of Devansh Tomar and Akshat Shekhawat also qualified for the main draw of the U-17 boys doubles category. The duo of Barwar and Deshna Jain outclassed the combination of Ayan and Arshiya of Haryana in the U-17 mixed doubles in straight games, 15-10, 15-3.
Barwar trounced Vikrant Negi of Maharashtra in the U-17 boys singles 15-6, 15-9. In the U-17 girls doubles, the pair of Deshna and Aaradhya accounted for Delhi’s Aarnvi Gupta-Lavanya 15-6, 15-13.In mixed doubles, Rudraksh Middha and Aaradhya rallied back splendidly to oust Ishant Raj and Somya of Bihar 12-15, 17-15, 15-13.In the U-15 mixed doubles, Shreyansh Chaudhary and Padmaja trounced Telangana’s A Thamanneni and P Pappanagari 15-13, 15-11, while T Shekhawat and K Sharma edged out Karthik Joyal and Pawani of Delhi 15-12, 19-17.In the U-17 boys singles, Kandarp Sharma thrashed Sririshi Kotagiri of Telangana 15-5, 15-8, while Devashish Prajapat got the better of Arjun A of Tamil Nadu 15-13, 15-13.Devansh Tomar and Akshat Shekhawat thumped Sai Bhattaraju and Manvik Reddy of Telangana 17-15, 16-14 in the U-17 boys doubles, while the pair of Ashmita Chaudhary of Rajasthan and Janiya Rao of Haryana got a walkover from the pair of Radhvikishree and Mokshagna of Tamil Nadu.Meanwhile, Sairaj Nayse of Maharashtra and L Luwangamba of Manipur entered the U-17 boys doubles main draw by defeating Om Garg and Vardhan Singh Gill of Punjab 15-3, 15-3.On Sunday, the final day of the qualifying rounds, 112 matches will be played starting at 9 am. Following the qualifying rounds, the main draw for the tournament will begin on Monday.
