Jaipur: City police have withdrawn 9 police stations on city outskirts from the ambit of Road Accident Investigation Units—commonly known as accident police stations—due to delays in reaching accident spots.In an order issued Dec 12, police commissioner Sachin Mittal directed that Bagru, Bindayaka, Kalwad, Khora Bisal, Chomu, Tunga, Daulatpura, Harmada and Patrakar Colony police stations will, henceforth, investigate road accident cases within their own jurisdictions. Mittal said the decision was taken because these police stations are located far from the accident investigation units, leading to delays in reaching accident sites. “This often causes serious inconvenience and hardship to victims,” he noted in the order.All pending road accident case files linked to these police stations will also be transferred back to the respective stations for investigation and legal action.
