Jaipur: As a process of streamlining the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme of the electoral roll of Jaipur, the district electoral office decided to create 741 new polling stations. The decision was made during a meeting with the district election officials and representatives of all political parties at the district collectorate.Ashish Kumar, deputy district election officer, informed that to reduce the crowd of voters at the polling stations, booths with more than 1,200 voters are being streamlined, reorganised, created, or divided.“At present, 4,302 polling stations are established in Jaipur district. In the reorganisation process, 2,143 polling stations are being reorganised, and 180 polling stations are being divided. This will create about 741 new polling stations, after which the total number of polling stations in the district will become 5,043,” stated Kumar.Officials said SIR is being organised to include the names of all eligible voters in the voters’ list and to remove the ineligible names from the list so that the voter list can be made accurate, transparent, and reliable.According to the plan, the BLO will go door-to-door to each voter and get a printed counting form filled by obtaining the necessary documents. “The voters can also upload their counting forms online through the ECI portal, which will be physically verified by the BLO. Under this programme, the voters whose verification will be done by BLO by filling online or offline counting forms, only those voters’ names will be included or displayed in the draft publication of the voter list. So, it is mandatory for all voters to participate in the SIR,” Kumar added.tnn
