600kg of adulterated paneer destroyed in Jawahar Nagar

Jaipur: City police Saturday seized and destroyed over 600kg of allegedly adulterated paneer during a crackdown in the Jawahar Nagar area, officials said.The paneer was being brought to the city for supply during the ongoing wedding and festive season, they said.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur East) Ranjeeta Sharma said the action was taken following inputs about the supply of adulterated dairy products in the city.Police said a pickup vehicle was intercepted near a dairy outlet in Jawahar Nagar, where six containers filled with paneer were found being unloaded.The driver, identified as Imran (28), a resident of Alwar district, was detained for questioning.During interrogation, he told police that the consignment was brought from a dairy in Laxmangarh, Alwar, and was meant for supply to a local shopkeeper Ranveer Sharma for distribution in the market, officials said.A team from the CMHO office was called to the spot and samples were collected for testing.Police said preliminary examination confirmed adulteration, following which around 634kg paneer was destroyed as per provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.Officials said this is the third such action by police in March.Earlier, around 250kg adulterated paneer was destroyed at the same outlet on March 3.In another incident on March 22, police seized large quantities of paneer, ghee and cream from a pickup vehicle in the area.Further action is being taken as per law, officials added.
