3 more lawyersrecommended forRaj HC elevation

Jaipur: The Supreme Court Collegium on Thursday recommended the names of three advocates — Bipin Gupta and Ravi Chirania from Jaipur, and Sanjeet Purohit from Jodhpur — for elevation to the Rajasthan High Court. With their expected appointment, the total number of judges in the High Court will reach 39. The three new names, selected from the bar, will now require President’s approval to be confirmed. This will bring the total number of judges appointed to the high court in 2025 to 11, with eight having already joined in the past five months.Three judges were appointed from judicial services in Jan, one from the bar in Feb, followed by four more in March. The appointments reflect a focused effort to address the rising workload and ensure smoother functioning of the court.Earlier this week, the Collegium also recommended the transfer of Justice Shree Chandrashekhar to the Bombay High Court and Justice Arun Monga to the Delhi High Court. It also proposed the transfer of Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, originally from the Rajasthan cadre and currently serving the Punjab and Haryana High Court, back to the state.
