Jaipur: The city crime branch arrested three men and seized synthetic drugs with an estimated international market value of Rs 5.50 lakh during an operation under “Clean Sweep” in Transport Nagar area of the city Tuesday.Special police commissioner (Operations) Rahul Prakash said the arrests were made after the crime branch received specific inputs about illegal narcotics trafficking in the area. Acting on the information, teams intercepted a Tata Tiago car and recovered 53.72 gram of MD (mephedrone crystal drug) from the accused.The arrested men have been identified as Tarun Singh (29), a resident of Shanti Nagar in Sodala, Lokendra Singh (26), a resident of Majdoor Nagar on Ajmer Road, and Prashant Sharma (32), a resident of Vaishali Nagar. The car used for transporting the drugs was also seized.Prakash said a case was registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Transport Nagar police station, and further investigation is underway. During interrogation, the accused claimed they procured the contraband from Faridabad in Haryana from a Nigerian national.“The crime branch is intensifying its crackdown on synthetic drug networks operating in Jaipur. Such operations will continue to dismantle supply chains and identify both local distributors and inter-state links,” Prakash said.Police are now probing the financial trail, supply routes, and possible links of the accused with a larger interstate narcotics network. Further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
