Jaipur: Police Sunday arrested thee men for allegedly assaulting two youths and snatching their gold chains during a New Year’s eve party at a hotel in Gurjar Ki Thadi area of Jaipur.Shyam Nagar SHO Dalbeer Singh Faujdar said the incident took place on the night of Dec 31 at Hotel My-Stay, where the victims checked in to celebrate the New Year. Faujdar identified the accused as Vikas Mal (27) of Alwar, Kaluram (28) of Dausa, and Sundar Singh (30) of Karauli. All three were arrested within hours of the incident following scrutiny of the CCTV footage, officials said.He said the case was registered at Shyam Nagar police station Friday, based on a complaint filed by Tushar Pidel (23), a resident of Nagaur district. In his complaint, Pidel said he came to Jaipur along with his younger brother, Divyash Chaudhary, and another relative, a 16-year-old minor, to celebrate New Year.The trio booked rooms at the hotel in the Gurjar Ki Thadi area and later went to the rooftop, where a birthday party was under way. According to the complaint, a group of men, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, began abusing and assaulting them without provocation.During the scuffle, the accused allegedly snatched the gold chains worn by Divyash and the minor before fleeing from the spot. The victims later approached the police, following which a special team was formed.Police said the CCTV footage from the hotel premises and surrounding areas was examined, leading to the identification and arrest of all the three accused within a few hours. The stolen chains are being recovered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused were involved in similar incidents earlier.
