240 people test positive for dengue in last 24 days

Jaipur: Two hundred forty people have been tested positive for dengue in the last 24 days (July 30-Aug 22) in Rajasthan. The state has also witnessed 195 malaria and 19 chikungunya cases during this period..The recent spell of rains has heightened concerns among health department officials, who are implementing measures to prevent the spread of diseases caused by mosquito bites.The state is currently experiencing incessant rains over the past few days, creating a conducive environment for mosquito breeding. A senior health department official said although the cases of seasonal illnesses are not currently high, special focus is placed on prevention and control activities in areas where cases are relatively higher. With the slowdown of the rainy season, efforts such as fogging, anti-larval measures, and house-to-house surveys will be intensified to control mosquito breeding.In the state, dengue cases increased from 570 to 808, while malaria cases rose from 461 to 656, and chikungunya cases increased from 184 to 203. In Jaipur, 28 people tested positive for dengue in 24 days, with two malaria cases and 5 cases of chikungunya also reported in the city.The health department advised people to focus on eliminating stagnant water in and around homes to prevent mosquito breeding and on maintaining environmental hygiene. The health department is intensifying efforts to raise public awareness about the health threats posed by diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.
