Bhilwara: Two people were killed and 13 injured after a container collided with a pickup on the Nimbahera-Mangalwad State Highway near Napawali village under the Nikumbh police station area in Chittorgarh district Friday.The deceased were identified as Jhooma Kanwar (45) and pickup driver Onkar Singh.Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi said all the passengers in the pickup were residents of Bambori village in Pratapgarh district and had gone to Mawli in Udaipur district for Dasha Mata worship. After completing the rituals, they were returning to their village, when a container rammed into the pickup at night. The collision destroyed the pickup, and screams and cries broke out at the spot. More than 25 people, including women and children, were travelling in the pickup at the time of the incident.Locals rushed to the spot and pulled out the injured, who were taken to Nimbahera hospital for treatment. Some critically injured were referred to Udaipur. On receiving information, Nikumbh station house officer Ram Singh reached the spot with his team.Following this, relatives of the injured, along with office-bearers associated with BJP and Congress, reached the hospital to help. The bodies were kept in the mortuary of the district hospital, where post-mortem was conducted Saturday and the bodies were later handed over to family members.Police have seized the container and detained its driver. Further investigation is going on.
